(Embodied) Sanctum

A Christian Entheogenic Community

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit that promotes education about the use of legal psychedelics with consenting adults, particularly from a Christian perspective. Our outreach arm is called Sacred Roots Consulting, and our goal is to be a safe space for pastors, elders, and lay leaders to have conversations about theology and the broad topic of "plant medicine." The founder and CEO of both Embodied Sanctum and Sacred Roots Consulting is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Graduate Theological Union, studying the intersection of Christianity and psychedelics.

The term entheogenic, which literally means "becoming divine within" or "god generated within", is often associated with psychedelics, nevertheless, it is our firm belief that psychedelics are not necessary for the process of encountering God. We believe that the invitation to oneness with God is a truly mystical experience and is an invitation given to all humanity through the work of Jesus Christ. The process of “becoming divine within” is not an apotheosis (the elevation of someone to divine status; deification), hence the lowercase d, but is simply an acknowledgment and connection to the reality that there is a God spark placed inside each one of us and allowing that spark to shine.

Desert Dunes

"The first Christian mystics, the Desert Fathers, lived in small, isolated desert communities in North Africa during the second and third centuries C.E. where they pursued mystical union with God. The desert was a setting ideal for bringing about non-ordinary states of consciousness because of the isolation and harshness of the environment."
